What is Pain?

Pain is a Word that none of us would like to hear. The psychological connotation of the word is completely negative and produces rejection. But, what is pain? There are to kinds of pain; physical and psychological. Physical pain refers to the experience of feeling an uncomfortable sensation trough our nervous system. For example when we cut our finger with a knife we are damaging tissue and therefore our nervous connectors send a signal to our brain and then the pain sensation is produced. Some people argue that since pain is controlled by the brain, therefore controlling our brain we can eliminate completely physical pain. In real life is has been proved that suggestion can also create the sensation of pain when there is actually nothing physically intervening that is producing pain. This is very common to happen to people, they believe there should be feeling pain and therefore the brain creates the sensation. It is not very common to find people who perform the process backwards. This means finding people who can eliminate pain even though they are conscious they should be feeling it because of a physical condition.

Medication for pain is called pain killers. These pills can help to eliminate all sorts of pain. If the pain is too intense then an injection should be provided. Alternative medicine seeks the relief of pain without using chemicals and drugs. For example acupuncture is a technique where using needles, many sensorial part of our body are stimulated in order to induce the brain to produce a relief for pain in certain parts of the body.

Pain is a sensorial state where normal life can’t be developed properly. It affects our performance at work and even the most basic needs. A person in pain is hardly impossible to get hungry enjoy food.
